Description
The Hardwired Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Interconnectable with AA
Battery Backup helps protect you and your family from two hazards – fire
and potentially deadly CO – in one device. This smoke & carbon monoxide
combo alarm features self-testing components that are always checking to
make sure the alarm is on and working.* Additionally, the included mounting
bracket makes installation fast and easy. This smoke and CO alarm is
capable of being hardwired to other select Kidde alarms,** to provide whole-
home alarm activation. This setup allows select Kidde alarms to sound in
unison, helping to ensure that everyone in the house is alerted.
Leading authorities recommend that both ionization and photoelectric
smoke alarms be installed to help ensure optimal detection of the various
types of fires that can occur within the home. Ionization sensing alarms
may detect invisible fire particles (associated with fast flaming fires) sooner
than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible
fire particles (associated with slow smoldering fires) sooner than ionization
alarms.
Alarm Warnings
– featuring multi-color LEDs
Fire: The red LED will flash in sync with the alarm pattern (3 long beeps).
The alarm will repeat this pattern until the unit is reset or smoke is eliminated.
Carbon Monoxide: The red LED will flash in sync with the alarm pattern (4
quick beeps). This continues until the smoke & carbon monoxide alarm is
reset or the CO is eliminated.
Low Battery: One chirp and amber LED flash per minute.
Alarm Memory: Alerts a user if smoke or CO has been detected in the last 24
hours. If smoke has been detected, the red LED blinks every 15 sec. If CO has
been detected, the red LED blinks twice every 15 sec.

I have a Model 900-cuar installed at my house. after about 1 year, this week it for no reason start to beep every 55s with the Amber LED links 1 time in yellow color. Without doing anything, the beep stopped after about 30 minutes; however, it started again (for no reason) after 12 hours or so. what is going on here? BTW, I replaced a brand new battery, it does not fix the problem.

My 900-CUAR is doing about the same as YAN’s post. Sometimes it goes for several days or weeks without beeping, then it starts and will not stop. I have replaced the batteries several times. What is the issue and what will fix it? It’s is only about 14 months old.

The Kidde 900-CUAR may beep intermittently despite replacing the batteries due to the following reasons:

1. End of Unit Life: The alarm may be chirping to indicate it has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced.

2. Improper Battery Installation: The batteries may not be installed correctly or could be the wrong type. Only use approved batteries: Energizer E91, Gold Peak 15A, or Golden Power GLR6A. Do not use lithium batteries or mix battery types.

3. Environmental Conditions: Constant exposure to high or low humidity or temperature may affect the unit's performance and cause beeping.

4. Low Battery Warning: If the unit still detects low battery, it may be due to weak or old batteries, even if recently replaced.

5. Reset Not Performed: The unit may need to be manually reset after battery replacement.

6. Silence Feature Active: A low battery chirp may have been temporarily silenced for up to 24 hours, after which it resumes.

If the issue persists after checking these points, the unit may need to be replaced.
