Product Overview

The Phonito Nano is a unique, state of the art inductive communication system developed specifically for covert communication. Thanks to the advanced technology of Phonak the Phonito Nano offers the kind of miniature size and listening comfort never before achieved. The set consists of:

  • Phonito Nano earpiece
  • A10 batteries
  • Cerumen filters
  • Cotton swabs

Important User Information

  • The Phonito Nano earpiece is best used with Phonak inductive wirings to guaranty optimal performance.
  • Phonito Nano must be used, cleaned, and cared for according to this manual. By not following this advice, you may compromise this product's performance.
  • To ensure complete and effective communication, the earpiece must be fitted correctly into the ear.
  • When not in use, store the system in the box supplied in a cool dry place (not above 60°C).
  • Dispose of defective systems properly or send back to the manufacturer for repair.

Instructions for Use

Inserting the battery into the Phonito Nano

Phonito Nano requires 1 x A10 Zinc Air battery. Failure to use the correct battery may cause damage to the earpiece and will void the warranty. We recommend to use Phonak batteries to guaranty the best performance.

  • Open the battery compartment by pressing the raised portion of the battery door.

  • Remove the sticker from the battery.
  • With the (+) symbol or hole facing inside, insert the battery into the battery holder.

  • Close the battery holder.

  • This process switches the earpiece ON.
    Your Phonito Nano is now ready to use.

Inserting Phonito Nano in the ear

  • After deciding which ear to wear your Phonito Nano in, hold the receiver between thumb and forefinger so that the green cerumen filter (waxfilter) points upwards.

  • Carefully guide the earpiece into your ear canal. Ensure that the earpiece sits as far as possible inside the ear canal as well as in the best and still comfortable position. Depending on the shape of your ear canal, you may need to gently twist the earpiece into place to ensure the best position.

  • To switch the earpiece OFF, open the battery compartment slightly by pressing the raised portion of the battery door.

  • If the earpiece is not used regularly, remove its battery prior to storage.

Operating the Phonito Nano system (inc. inductive wiring)

  • Connect the Phonak inductive wiring to your mobile radio. Wrap the induction loop around your neck and place either a wired PTT or the wireless PTT (see wireless PTT User Manual) in your hand. Turn on your radio. The Phonito Nano earpiece and the inductive wiring will now be fully operational.

System maintenance and care

  • Phonito Nano is a high-tech product and should be treated with care.
  • Clean it after use with a soft tissue or other hearing aid approved cleaning material.
  • Check the green cerumen filter frequently; this filter protects the Phonito Nano against blockage from earwax and can be replaced if required.
  • To replace the cerumen filter, please follow the "Cerumex Filter System" instructions provided separately.

Troubleshooting

No signal

  • Check Phonito Nano is switched ON.
  • Check the battery works and is installed with the (+) symbol facing inwards.
  • Check the battery sticker has been removed.
  • Check you are using Phonito Nano with inductive wiring from Phonak.
  • Check the functionality of your radio.
  • Check the radio connector.

Volume too low

  • Check that the cerumen filter is not blocked and clean if necessary.
  • Increase the volume of your radio.
  • Check Phonito Nano is inserted correctly and deep enough into the ear canal.

Beeps

  • Each time you turn ON Phonito Nano, you hear one "start-up" beep.
  • If you hear sequences of three beeps in a row, please change the battery.

Electromagnetic compatibility

Phonito Nano follows the standards EN 55022: 2006 + A1:2007 (CISPR 22:2005 + A1:2005) and 55024:1998 + A1:2001 + A2:2003 (CISPR 24:1997+A1:2001+A2:2002) in compliance with the specifications of the EMC Directive 2004/108/EC (Electromagnetic Compatibility).

Conformity declaration

This Class B digital apparatus complies with Canadian ICES-003 Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio waves and, if not installed and used according to the instructions, may interfere with other radio communication. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular set-up. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna
  • Increase the distance between the equipment and receiver
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different to that to which the receiver is connected
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/ TV technician for help


Keep batteries out of reach of small children.
If the batteries of Phonito Nano are swallowed, promptly seek medical attention.
Keep the earpiece dry. Do not store in dusty, dirty or hot areas. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents or strong detergents to clean.

Warranty
The duration of the warranty for defects in parts or workmanship is two years from the date of purchase. Any responsibility for incidental or consequential damages will be refused.
