MAINTENANCE The user’s manual specifies a series of servicing operations which are to be carried out by customers, who are responsible for ensuring the minimum basic maintenance, and other operations that customers are not always capable of performing. For this reason, the assistance centre must do everything necessary to ensure that the equipment functions perfectly and may take the following steps: 1.
ADJUSTMENTS AND TUNING This chapter deals with the adjustments to be made to remedy the more frequent performance failures and are usually resolved by quick checks and tunings. The timings for these items of work are shown in chapter 1.6. Blade engagement The blades are run from the engine using a trapezoidal the blades are engaged by means of a tightener that is operated by a lever.

Drive and brake engagement (Mechanical drive models) The engine transmits motion to the gearbox via a V-belt operated by the combined clutch/brake pedal: the same pedal, pushed to its full limit, works the brake on the outside of the gearbox. Any problems with the clutch, forward motion and lack of braking power can be solved by suitably adjusting the pedal’s two functions.
Transmission chain The transmission chain, located between the gearbox and the differential, transmits both the motive power required for forward motion and braking power. If it is lengthened, this causes jerks when driving which may cause the chain to jump out of place resulting in total loss of motive power and control of the Lawn-Tractor.
Making the cutter deck parallel Raising the cutting plate is controlled by two lever-operated cables and guided by four hinge rods. If the deck does not come down parallel to the ground, an irregular cut will result, the grass taking on a «stepped» effect. If the deck and the levers seem to be in good condition and not showing signs of damage, then the problem is due to a difference in tyre pressures or the stretching of the cables.
Adjustment of steering allowance To avoid adversely affecting steering accuracy, there must not be excess play on the steering wheel. Check that the movement is not caused by loose linkage nuts, and completely tighten all nuts in the steering joints and the ring gear.
Adjusting the geometry of the front axle Correct geometry of the front axle is defined by the values of the distances between the tie rod joints and the wheel connecting shaft. Any faults caused by knocks or accidents result in reduced driving precision and increased wear on the tyres.

Checking blade alignment Excessive vibrations during mowing and irregular cutting may be caused by misalignment of blades due to accidental deformations of the blade bearings and shafts. 1. Put the lawn-tractor into a vertical position (see chap. 2.4). 2. To check the alignment of blades, start by removing one and, then, reinstall it after removing the key [2] from the shaft so that the blades can be turned separately.

Sharpening and balancing of the blades Blunt blades damage the lawn, cause yellowing and result in less efficient mowing. When blades are incorrectly balanced, they cause serious vibrations during mowing. WARNING : · Always use protective gloves when handling the blades and protect eyes when sharpening.
Brake adjustment (Hydrostatic drive models) NOTE: Reduced braking power is corrected by adjusting the spring on the brake rod under the front hood. 1. Remove the fuel tank (see 5.5) and, with some engine types which have limited access, remove also the cover for the electronic card and the wire connections.

4.10 Drive belt adjustment (Hydrostatic drive models) NOTE: If it seems that the forward drive is not working properly after a long period of use or after replacing the belt, this may be caused by a change in length of the belt. It will therefore be necessary to adjust the screw coupling.

4.11 Drive pedal adjustment (Hydrostatic drive models) This operation should be carried out every time the pump, the pedal or the control rod is removed in order to get the correct travel for the pedal and to enable reaching the envisaged speeds both forwards and in reverse.
REMOVING EXTERNAL PARTS AND MAIN ASSEMBLIES In order to carry out the most difficult operations, it may sometimes be necessary to obtain easier access by removing the subassembly concerned so that the work can be carried out on a bench or, alternatively, by removing the fairing or external components.

Removal of the wheel cover Removing the wheel cover makes accessible: − the deck lifting cables, − the blade engagement lever. − the switches for the seat, collecting bin and blades. 1. Dismantle the springs [1] which hold the battery to prevent their accidentally causing a short-circuit.
Removing the discharge conveyor It is indispensable to remove the conveyor in order to remove the cutting plate. This is advisable if the rear plate is removed and the plate lifting cables are replaced. 1. Undo the internal screws [1] fixing it to the rear plate and then unhook the small retaining springs [2] which hold it to the cutting deck.
Removal of rear plate The removal of the rear plate makes more accessible: − the lever and the deck lifting ropes, − the blade engaging lever, − the rear wheel axle (ring gear, differential and bearings). 1. Remove the conveyor and disconnect it from the plate (see 5.3).
Removal of fuel tank and dashboard The removal of the fuel tank makes more accessible: − the steering column and the ring gear, − the gear lever linkage. The removal of the dashboard makes more accessible: − the gear lever linkage, −...

Removal of the engine Given that differing engines are used, the stages described here are those the same as or similar for all engines. 1. Remove the front hood (see 5.1.). 2. Remove the casing [1] attached by two screws (when provided).
Removal of the cutting deck Removing the cutting plate makes it easier and more convenient to carry out operations on the blade driving toothed belt and the revision and replacement of hubs, bearings or blade shafts. With a certain amount of experience and practice, it is possible to do this work even with the deck in position.
REMOVAL OF THE PUMP (Hydrostatic drive models) The hydrostatic pump is made up of a sealed single unit which is maintenance free. The pump should only be removed in order to be replaced or for overhaul at the manufacturer’s service centre. NOTE: When in use (particularly when working extra hard) it is in the nature of the hydrostatic pump to get up to high...
REPAIRS This chapter deals with all the more complex work connected with the replacement or repair of malfunctioning or worn parts. The descriptions proceed by necessity in a logical way and can include operations not specifically connected to a particular type of repair. In this case, careful reading of the entire procedure can help you omit all those operations not connected with the case in hand without, however, overlooking anything that may be necessary.
