Troubleshooting

Use the Troubleshooting chart in Table 8 to assist in defining a problem, determining a
possible cause, and defining action steps to remedy the situation.
Problem
Will not start
Poor ultimate
pressure
Hammering
noise
Pump runs
intermittently
The IDP-15 is equipped with an auto-reset thermal motor protector. This protector automatically
*
shuts down the pump when it detects an overload condition, and automatically restarts the pump
when the motor has cooled to within an acceptable temperature range.

Possible Causes
Motor thermal protector
open
Blown fuse
Excessive voltage drop
Defective motor
System leak
Water in pump
Solvent in pump
Seals worn out
Poor conductance to pump Replumb with shorter and/or larger
Integrated Isolation Valve
(option) solenoid failure
Pump overheated
Debris in pump
Motor thermal protector is
cycling open and closed.*
Corrective Actions
Allow motor to cool.
Identify cause of overload.
Replace fuse.
Check size and length of cable.
Inspect. Contact Agilent.
Locate and repair leak.
Flush pump with air or dry nitrogen.
Flush pump with air or dry nitrogen.
Install trap or filter.
Replace tip seals.

Contact Agilent.
Check ventilation to pump.
Check ambient temperature.
Check intake screen.
Flush pump.
Disassemble pump and inspect.
Allow the motor to cool.
Identify the cause of the overload.
