Procedure
1. Power on the server.
2. If you are running the server in UEFI Boot Mode, select F9 (System Utilities).
3. (Optional) If running the server in Legacy Boot Mode, set the controller as the boot controller.
4. (Optional) If running the server in Legacy Boot Mode, change the controller boot order.
5. Configure a logical drive or select physical drives for JBOD mode using the Smart Array configuration utility in UEFI
System Utilities.
6. Launch the operating system installation and point to the controller driver when prompted.
7. If the operating system utility does not see the drive, repeat the step to configure the logical drive or select physical
drives for JBOD and retry the installation.
8. After the installation is complete, use MR Storage Administrator, StorCLI, or the SPP to update the controller firmware
if it is not the latest revision.

Installing a processor heatsink assembly

The server supports single-processor and dual processor operations.
IMPORTANT: Existing HPE ProLiant and HPE Synergy Gen10 server products containing first-generation Intel
Xeon Scalable processors may not be upgraded to second-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors at this time.

Prerequisites
Before installing this option, be sure that you have the following items:
Processor or heatsink kit contents
T-30 Torx screwdriver
Procedure
1.
Observe the following alerts.
CAUTION: When handling the heatsink, always hold it along the top and bottom of the fins. Holding it from
the sides can damage the fins.
CAUTION: To prevent possible server malfunction and damage to the equipment, multiprocessor
configurations must contain processors with the same part number.
