INFINITY
PATENT-PENDING TECHNOLOGY TO VARY A SPEAKER'S Q
First to Offer Variable Woofer Frequency, Subs Fit in Any Size Box
LAS VEGAS (Jan. 9, 2003) – Infinity new Kappa Perfect VQ subwoofers, the first to offer a
Variable Q design, addresses a dilemma car audio buffs face all too frequently: getting new
subwoofers that suddenly make their existing enclosures obsolete. Providing numerous options
to installers, the Kappa Perfect VQ subs allow consumers to use a baffle of infinite size or no
box at all. The patent-pending, Variable Q design enables users to vary the frequency of the
woofer, or Q, to achieve optimal performance in a particular enclosure or adjust the box required
to obtain a certain sound.
Kappa Perfect VQ series subwoofers offer a unique approach to adjusting the Q. They enable
the motor strength to be varied using metal vent polepiece inserts, which provides additional
cooling of the motor structure. This increase in thermal capabilities provides more power
handling. Q adjustments enable the woofer to be optimized for a particular enclosure or
application and may provide the user with a superior listening experience for several applications
in a single enclosure. In addition, VQ allows a single woofer to work in many different type and
size boxes.
"The Kappa Perfect VQ subs are the only woofers a consumer needs to purchase," says Andy
Wehmeyer, product marketing manager, Infinity Mobile Systems. "Because of the patented
Variable Q design, these subs can grow with consumers and their systems and be changed
accordingly, making them a wise long-term investment."
