3.3.2 XVIVO Left Atrial
(LA) Cannula
The XVIVO Left Atrial Cannula is
the cone-shaped cannula marked
with the green taped end.
Measure the cone end to the
donor lung left atrial cuff.
Cut the cone to better
approximate atrial opening.
Re-measure against opening.
Connect cone to left atrial cuff
with a running 4-0 polypropylene
suture.
Finished cannula sutured to LA.
NOTE: There are two cone
cannulas included in the XVIVO
Lung Cannula Set
taped cannula is typically used for
the left atrium and is slightly
stiffer than the white taped
cannula, which is used either as a
backup LA cannula or for difficult
pulmonary artery (PA)
cannulations as shown on the
next page (Sec 3.3.3).
