Because both the v e r t i c a l and horizontal a x i s of the oscilloscope are calibrated,
the oscilloscope i s capable of not only d i s p l a y i n g w a v e f o r m s but c a n also q u a n t i t a -
t i v e l y m e a s u r i n g voltage or t i m e . When performing these latter measurements,
rotate the three V A R I A B L E controls ( C H I [ Y - a x i s ] , C H 2 [ X - a x i s ] a n d h o r i z o n -
tal) a l l the w a y i n the c l o c k w i s e direction to the C A L setting. A l l the o s c i l l o -
scope's V A R I A B L E controls w i l l c l i c k w h e n rotated into their C A L settings.
I n addition, the oscilloscope comes w i t h probes. T h e s e probes should a l l be
plugged into their proper j a c k s i n order to assure a m i n i m u m of interference to
the s i g n a l s y o u w a n t to measure.
M e a s u r i n g V o l t a g e B e t w e e n Two P o i n t s on a W a v e f o r m
Use the following procedures for m e a s u r i n g voltage, etc. between t w o points or
from peak to peak on a w a v e f o r m .

A p p l y a s i g n a l to the I N P U T t e r m i n a l and adjust the V O L T S / D I V a n d
S W E E P T I M E / D I V controls. A l s o reset the trigger point i f n e c e s s a r y . Set
the A C - G N D - D C control at A C .

Work the

measured falls on one of the horizontal graduation lines, w h i l e the other
points ( B ) can still be observed on the C R T screen.

Work the 4\ •
at the center of the C R T screen.

Measure the v e r t i c a l distance between the two points and m u l t i p l y that
value by the V O L T S / D I V setting. When u s i n g a probe, also m u l t i p l y the
value by the probe's attenuation rate.
