Benchmarks
The charts below compare the performance of the File Server workload and Workstation workload
using the IOMeter test harness. The charts show the performance improvement of a 4 disk RAID 0
configuration over a single disk configuration.

Results
As shown in the first chart, the 4 disk RAID 0 array has a clear performance advantage for the
Workstation workload – almost 3x as fast for SATA disks, almost 5x the performance of the 10K SAS
disk, and almost 8x as fast as the SAS 15K disk. A similar result is seen for the File Server Workload.
For those who need the best performance, regardless of cost, a RAID 0 configuration of SAS 15K
disks can be a great choice. The 10K SATA Drives are also relatively fast and represent an excellent
price/performance tradeoff, as the SAS drives are relatively expensive.
