4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download your one free city map. You
may either use the Search function to find a map that contains the city of
your choice or use the City List function to choose your desired city map
from a list of cities.
5. After downloading your one free city map, a GPS Navigation Voucher code
appears. Write the code on paper and keep it in a safe place. Use the code
to receive a discount when you purchase more maps. Purchase additional
maps at http://www.tomtom.com/gpsnavigation. If you choose not to write
the code on a piece of paper, you can access the voucher number later by
tapping, Start > Programs > Get a Map & Voucher.
Downloading the Wrong Map
If you have inadvertently downloaded the wrong map to the HP iPAQ or memory
card, you cannot download another free map. However, you can use your voucher
code to receive a discount on purchasing additional maps.
To retrieve the voucher code, tap Start > Programs > Get a Map.
Losing A Downloaded Map
If you have an HP iPAQ with GPS navigation powered by TomTom and lose a map
you can download the same map again to your HP iPAQ without any charge.
Otherwise, you can use your voucher code for a discount on purchasing full map
sets at www.tomtom.com/gpsnavigation.
Losing The GPS Signal While in My Car
GPS performance on the HP iPAQ may be affected if the vehicle has thermal glass
windows and windshields, which can block the HP iPAQ from receiving a GPS
signal from satellites. To improve GPS signal strength, place the HP iPAQ where
there is a clear view of the sky or on the dashboard of a vehicle that does not have
thermal glass windshields. A direct line of sight is required between the HP iPAQ
and the GPS satellites to access information from the satellites.
WARNING! In certain situations when using GPS navigation powered by
TomTom, the GPS signal strength drops so low that the GPS receiver cannot
help you navigate. When this happens, you may see a "spinning" effect in the
3-D view where the screen can rotate up to 180 degrees. To address this
situation, tap on the map > Change preferences > Turn off 3D
display.
