Master Cylinder Oil Reservoir

FIG. 86: Check fluid level every 500 hours or once a
season and fill as necessary.
The master cylinder oil reservoir (1) is located behind the
washer fluid reservoir (2), behind on access door on the
right-hand cab platform.
Before adjusting the brake engagement, check the level of
fluid in reservoir, and fill as necessary.
NOTE: If brake pedal action is spongy when pedal is
applied, bleed the brake line(s).

Bleeding Brake System

Operating the brakes with a low fluid level in the reservoir
allows air to enter the lines causing pedal action to
become spongy. Bleed the brakes if this condition occurs.
NOTE: While completing the following procedures, the
brake fluid level must be maintained in the
master cylinder
FIG. 87: Open the bleed screw (1) on the left-hand side
of the master cylinder while pushing both pedals down.
Close the screw on the up stroke. Repeat this procedure
for both brake pedals until a stream of brake fluid is
released from the brake bleed screw that does not contain
any air bubbles.
FIG. 88: Lock the brake pedals together and rapidly
pump the brake pedals several times. Then, hold the
pedals in a depressed (down) position while a second
person opens the bleed screw (1) on the left-hand wheel
cylinder allowing fluid and air to escape. As soon as the
pedals have reached the full down position, immediately
close the bleed screw before allowing the brake pedals to
return to the up position.
Repeat until a solid stream of brake fluid is released from
the bleed screw that does not contain any air bubbles.
Repeat this procedure for right-hand brake caliper.
Brake pedal action must be firm, not spongy. Repeat
above procedures if necessary.
