Changing the ¼ Wavelength Shim Calibration Definition
The calibration kit definition data provided with this kit has a nominal value for
the ¼ wavelength shim offset delay. You may use the nominal value provided,
or measure the exact thickness of the shim and use that value to calculate its
exact offset delay. Use the following procedure to change the nominal value of
the ¼ wavelength shim delay to reflect the specific device in your kit.
1. Load the calibration kit data into Cal Kit 1.
2. Using the formula below, calculate the offset delay:
The value of the propagation velocity in air is corrected for a temperature
of 23 °C, 50% relative humidity, and 760 mm Hg of pressure.
