Electrochromic roof
Adjusting roof transparency
The roof is made of "electrochromic" glass: this feature allows adjust-
ing the roof transparency by means of a small transfer of electric
charge to the film-like cells between the two layers of glass.
Using the control knob A on the central console, the transparency
can be adjusted to three levels going from maximum transparency
(corresponding to the luminosity of conventional glass) to minimum
transparency that lets only 1% sunlight filter in.
The change in transparency from one extreme to the next occurs in
less than 60 seconds.
In order to contain the transmission of solar energy when the vehicle
stands in the sun for a long time, the system sets the roof luminosity
to minimum transparency every time the ignition key is turned to 0
(Stop).
The minimum transparency conditions are maintained by means of a timer
set to 48 hours. Every time the ignition key is turned to position II and then to
0, the timer is
reset.
Using the battery conditioner will extend the life of the battery.
Turning the knob A of the regulator counterclockwise, the roof trans-
parency is increased; vice versa, it is decreased.
This operation is only possible with the ignition key set to II (Run)
