The drive housing of a Stihl FS 230 could get hot due to several factors not present in the FS 200. Possible causes include:

1. Increased Engine Power – The FS 230 has a 1.55 kW (2.1 hp) engine, which may generate more heat than the FS 200.
2. Higher Displacement – With a 40.2 cm³ engine, the FS 230 might produce more friction and heat in the drive components.
3. Lubrication Issues – Insufficient or degraded lubrication in the drive shaft or gearbox can increase friction and heat.
4. Component Differences – The FS 230 may have design changes in the drive housing or transmission that cause more heat buildup.
5. Operating Conditions – If the FS 230 is used under heavier loads or for longer periods, it may generate more heat than the FS 200.

Regular maintenance, proper lubrication, and ensuring correct operating conditions can help reduce excessive heat in the drive housing.
