Essentials | Lifting cables maintenance (where fi tted) For optimal performance and safety the lifting cable system in the Kimberley Karavan needs to be inspected every 12 months or 100 lifts of the Karavan (whichever comes fi rst). This should be done by a Kimberley Dealer.

Ensure the vehicle charging plug is clean so that maximum current is before leaving, going to your Kimberley. Check that when the vehicle is idling and the engine there will be cold, that a reasonable current is showing on the display inside your Kimberley.

Brakes and Wheels: An easily made error is to drive off and leave the parking brake on. Our practice at Kimberley is that the driver has responsibility to check the locks, brakes and trailer connection before departing. You should check 100% on the connection to the vehicle and that the PARKING Brake is off before departing.

1. Selection of Tyres The VIN Plate on your Kimberley will state the Rim and Tyre size as delivered. There are Wheel sizes and Tyres Sizes and Types that are recommended. If wheels and tyres outside of these recommendations are fi tted, it will void the warranty.

If a customer does not have 14V at the connecting plug or their vehicle is not wired up at the time of handover then Kimberley Kampers can’t warrant that the vehicle will charge the battery system in the Kimberley. You must use a digital multimeter that shows at least one and preferable 2 decimal points. Please do the check as follows.

The spare wheel is lowered with a winder that is provided with the trailer. A jack is not provided. IMPORTANT: Please ensure that the jack with your vehicle will safely lift your Kimberley at the swing-arm points. Water crossings When performing water crossings where the water level is above your Kimberley axles the following precautions need to be taken to avoid any damage to your Diesel Hot Water System or Diesel Space Heater System 1. If your Kimberley has an on-board compressor, you can remotely control your air suspension using the included Remote Control Fob. This Fob is synced to your Kimberley at the factory. If you need to re-connect, see the Manufacturers Instructions for this system included in your owners satchel.

LED Lighting LED lighting is used throughout your Kimberley. These lights are low maintenance, use little energy and have a long service life. If wet due to excessive condensation, also add a little sphagnum peat moss. Make sure excessive wetness is not due to someone urinating directly into the compost section. Energy System | How to charge your Batteries There are 3 main ways to charge the batteries in your Kimberley. We recommend that you fully charge your batteries before any trip FROM AN AC POWER SUPPLY AND CHECK EVERYTHING IS OPERATIONAL.

If your vehicle doesn’t produce at least 14V at the charge cable you may need to install the optional 12V - 12V DC - DC Charge Booster in your Kimberley. This ensures your batteries receive suffi cient voltage for correct charging whilst you are driving. This unit also functions as a solar controller as needed.

1. Dual or triple battery isolation. Kimberley highly recommends a “simple” charging system from the Vehicle to Trailer. We recommend you get your Auto-electrician to wire up the charge lead from the alternator through a 50 amp fuse direct to the back of the vehicle for Anderson Plug input.

As part fo the Smart Touch system, the Kimberley features a Battery Monitoring display. This shows battery voltage and amps fl owing into and out of a battery. Most importantly, it will calculate the amp-hours used during discharging and during charging it will compute the amp-hours returned to the batteries.

When Master Power Switch is turned OFF, the only power connection to the batteries that is still active is the Electronic Brake control unit. Kimberley recommend you leave the unit plugged into AC power all the time IF THIS IS ELECTRICALLY SAFE TO DO.

Braking System Kimberley operates only two types of braking systems on all their trailers. All our products operate hydraulic disk brakes with custom built KK Callipers. An electronic disc braking system may be fi tted to your Kimberley. This system provides faster braking response for reduced stopping distance and has the added advantage of providing in-car control of the brakes.

When optioned with the electronic disc braking system, a Carlisle Electric/Hydraulic actuator is used. Use of an approved in-cab brake controller is required for operation of the brakes. Shock Absorbers Shock absorbers can be the most vulnerable part on your Kimberley to wear and tear. They are also critical to the ease of towing. The shock absorbers stabilise the ride of the Kimberley in traditional road conditions.
