Overview

Overview
The DVS-7200A Digital Video Switcher is a high-
performance, multi-functional, composite (D2)/
component (D1) format digital switcher for use in the
construction of digital video systems. It is suitable for
use in applications ranging from live production
systems, such as those in studios or OB vans, to
editing systems such as those found in post-production
houses. Most switcher operations are carried out using
the optional BKDS-7015/7025/7026 Switcher Control
Panel.
This operation manual uses the following names to
refer to the switcher and control panels.

Control Panel
A system combining the switcher and a 2-M/E panel is
called a DVS-7200 system, and a system combining
the switcher and a 2.5-M/E panel is called a DVS-7250
system.

Features

Three control panels for systems of different
scale and applications
Three control panels are available, allowing you to
choose a 2-M/E or 2.5-M/E control panel to match the
scale and range of applications of your system.
For example, numerous functions are available to
support live use, such as display of crosspoint source
names, snapshots of each M/E bank, and redundant
power supplies. These functions can be provided as
required by selecting the appropriate control panel and
installing optional devices.
Easy system switching
With control panel settings, the system's operating
conditions such as the signal type (composite or
component), aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3), and component
signal format (525 or 625 lines) can be switched
without changing any installed boards.

Completely digital processing for high picture
quality and excellent stability
Inheriting the digital video processing technology
established by the DVS-7200 Digital Video Switcher,
this switcher provides superior image quality and a
high degree of image processing power.
Serial digital input/output
All digital signals are input or output serially.
Transmitting each digital video signal over a single
coaxial cable greatly simplifies system configuration.
Further, it is possible to transmit signals over longer
distances, compared to conventional parallel
transmission.
Operations linked with DME
The DME-7000 Digital Multi Effects can be connected
to the switcher system. Using the fader lever of each
M/E bank, you can perform DME operations as if
carrying out wipes. Further, installing an optional key
frame control panel and/or DME control panel into the
switcher control panel makes it possible to perform
key frame link operations and/or control DME
operations.
Numerous options
Options are available for a wide variety of uses, such
as serial digital and analog composite input/output
expansion, analog component chroma key input,
chroma keying and frame memory operation.
Interface with external equipment
Since this switcher can be connected to units such as
the Sony DVS-6464B Routing Switcher, it can be built
into large-scale systems.
Further, by connecting the switcher to a device such as
the BVE-9100 Editing Control Unit, high-level editing
operations such as status reporting and EDL (edit
decision list) management can be performed
efficiently.
Power- and space-saving design
By employing large-scale integration ICs using the
latest technology, the switcher provides a high level of
performance and functionality in a smaller package
and using less electricity than previous switchers.
