I have not used the camera for some time. I cannot get the date and time to hold. When I turn the camera on it goes back to setting the date and time.

The Canon PowerShot SX100 IS resets the date and time every time it is turned on likely because the internal backup battery (C1220) is not functioning properly. Even though it was replaced, the issue may persist if the new battery is not installed correctly, is not charged, or the camera has an internal fault preventing it from retaining settings.
