The date and time reset on the Canon PowerShot A560 when the camera is turned off because the date battery charge is low or depleted. The date battery (a CR1220 lithium coin battery) is responsible for maintaining the date and time settings when the main power is off. If this battery is exhausted, the camera will lose its date and time settings each time it is turned off. Replacing the date battery should resolve the issue.
