filter will become completely ineffective after some months, leaving you with unpleasant
tasting drinks you'll be embarrassed to serve your friends and family.
So you can continue to be proud of your delicious brews, fresh water, and crystal-clear ice,
we've put together a quick guide on everything you need to know about replacing your
Samsung fridge filter at home.
1. How to replace an RSG5UCRS Samsung Fridge Filter
If you've never replaced your RSG5UCRS Samsung Fridge Filter before, we've got some
good news for you — it's easier than you think.
When the filter indicator light turns orange or pink, it's time to purchase a new filter. When it
turns red, it's time to change the filter. If six months has passed and the indicator light hasn't
turned red, we still recommend changing the filter to maintain the high quality of your
drinking water.
Around 90% of the American-style fridge freezers have an internal water filter. The following
instructions refer to replacing internal filters only. Scroll down for instructions on how to
replace an external filter.
1. Remove the old water filter by twisting it 45° to the left to unlock
2. Gently pull the old water filter out and discard it — the water will shut off automatically
at this point
3. Push the new water filter into the space and turn it 45° to the right
4. If the padlock symbol matches up with the symbol on the filter, it's in the correct
position
5. After installing the new filter, press the water filter reset button for 3 seconds to reset
the light indicator
Extra tips
If you're struggling to remove the water filter, the problem could be a build up of water
pressure behind the filter. Try removing the top 2 fridge shelves and pull the filter harder to
remove it.
If you can't get the new filter to fit in the space, close the water supply valve and dispense a
little bit of water. This will lower the pressure, making it easier to install the new filter.
The following instructions are for external filters only. Only around 10% of Samsung
RSG5UCRS fridge freezers have external filters. Scroll up for instructions on how to replace
an internal filter.
1. Shut off the water supply
2. Disconnect the old cartridge from the system and dispose of it
3. Align the water filter with the arrow flow mark toward the fridge
4. Connect the inlet and outlet tubing to the appropriate end of the filter by firmly
pushing the tubing all the way until it's tightly sealed
5. Ensure the tubing is square and scratch-free — you can trim it if necessary
