The patented GreenHouse Plus allows chemists to perform 24 reactions in parallel, with a reaction volume of 0.5 to 7ml per reaction tube. The GreenHouse Plus’s removable reaction block holds 24 glass reaction tubes and has the same footprint as a standard micro titer plate.
Please see Page 13 for full details before using your GreenHouse. The GreenHouse Plus units are coated with a high specification nickel plating. This plating has been developed over many years with the plating process refined to improve chemical resistance to the optimimum level. Whilst the plating specification offers excellent resistance to most chemical attack, unfortunately it is not possble to guarantee that it is 100% resistant to all chemical attack.

Cooled Reactions (see separate Instructions) For reactions at temperatures below ambient use the GreenHouse Plus with the GreenHouse Cooling Reservoir (optional extra). Use of an inert gas is normally essential for such reactions, as typically very reactive air or moisture sensitive reagents are used.

IMPORTANT Safety Procedures for Safety Pressure Relief Valve 1. On every occasion, prior to use of your GreenHouse Plus ensure that the Safety Pressure Relief Valve is not stuck to its seating. This is achieved by gently pulling up the cap until the valve comes off its seating.

Add solvents and reagents to the tubes as required, taking note of the appropriate rack position (A1-D6) for each sample. Insert reaction block into GreenHouse Plus base, taking care to align alpha- numeric numbering on base and reaction block.

RR99617 - PTFE Faced Butyl Rubber Sealing Mat Manufactured from a tough PTFE coated butyl rubber. Designed to use for sealing the GreenHouse Plus when additions/removals are not required. Providing an inert, gas tight environment for samples. The PTFE face is bonded to one side of the durable butyl rubber providing an inert chemically resistant barrier.

Then simply insert the nozzle into the quick release water connector on the head. Either water connector may be used for in/out water flow.

(e.g. nitrogen or argon) and a vacuum source (e.g. water pump or house vacuum etc). The GreenHouse Plus is first evacuated to the best vacuum that can be attained then it is filled with the inert gas using the 3-way tap. Repeating this twice more will purge the chamber and provide an inert atmosphere.

Either disconnect gas inlet or lift Relief Valve to remove excess pressure. c. Immediately turn off any heating, and if possible remove GreenHouse Plus from hotplate (use heat resistant gloves). d. Check that incoming gas does not exceed 3psi.

An exception to this is when the GreenHouse Cooling Reservoir is used with dry ice/acetone as the cooling medium, where the gasket in the GreenHouse Plus Base Unit will come in direct contact with acetone. The Silicone Rubber Gasket is particularly suitable for this application as it stays soft at low temperatures and shows good resistance to acetone.

RR99610 - GreenHouse Plus Parallel Synthesiser Gasket Selection & Maintenance - continued How long should the gasket last? The gaskets are a consumable item and they will need replacing. How long they last depends very much on what you expose them to. Repeatedly splashing solvents and reagents directly on to the gaskets will greatly reduce their life.
