Step 6. Insert the plastic knobs on the remaining Side Panels into the
open slots on the Legs to form a rectangle. Pull down on the Panels
to make sure they are sitting at the bottom of the slots, and insert
Small Screws into the holes at the top of the Legs (Figure 3).
Step 7. Examine the Floor Supports to find the ends that have two
holes in each corner. With the holes facing down, slide the Floor
Inserts into the opposite ends of the Floor Supports, as shown in Figure 5.
Step 8. With the holes still facing down, place the assembled Floor Supports into
the Raised Bed, sitting them on the Platform Supports (Figure 6). Carefully tip
the Raised Bed onto its side. The holes in the corners of the Floor Supports
should line up with the holes in the Platform Supports. Place a Bolt through
each set of holes and use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten them into place.
Step 9. Place the Leg Caps onto the top of the Legs.
Step 10. Screw the Drainage Plugs into the bottom of the Reservoir Bases. Place
a Reservoir Top onto each Base, lining up the smaller holes in the Top with the holes
in the columns on the Base (Figure 7). Use a Phillips screwdriver to place Large Bolts
through the sets of holes. Slide the Fill Tubes into the two adjacent holes in the corners
of the Reservoir Tops. Push the Capillary Tubes into the openings until they hit the
bottom of the Bases.
Step 11. Notice how one corner each Water Reservoir has a notch it in (Figure 7). Place
the assembled Reservoirs into the planter, fitting the notches into the corners of the
Elevated Bed. Use the tape to cover the seams where the Reservoirs meet. NOTE: This
helps prevent soil from leaking through. Your planter assembly is complete!
The Galvanized Elevated Raised Bed holds 9 cubic feet or 269 quarts of planting mix.
We recommend filling the planter with our Self-Watering Potting Mix (sold separately).
Firmly press the mix around the Capillary Tubes, and make sure you do not cover the tops
of the Fill Tubes.
After planting, water from above to help your plants settle in, and fill the Reservoirs by sliding the Fill Tube covers to either side.
Continue watering from above until your plants are well established. Check the water level frequently and keep the Reservoirs filled.
Drain and store the Reservoirs prior to freezing temperatures.
About Drainage: This planter has overflow drainage, so that when the water reservoir is full, any excess water will drain out. The
draining water can stain surfaces under the planter.
