Safety When servicing a shredder, observe the following safety precautions: Never put a hand, fingers, or foreign objects into the paper feed slot or throat. Keep all loose articles of clothing, ties, jewelry, long hair, or other loose objects away from the ...
Operation The control panel on the housing top consists of the control panel switch, indicator LEDs, and sheet capacity LEDs. Power Turns on the shredder and illuminates the power LED. Forward Runs the shredder in forward mode. Press and hold to activate. Reverse Runs the shredder in reverse mode.
Indicator LEDs The 325i and 325Ci have five indicator LEDs on the housing cover. • Straight feed • Door open • Bin full • Current Limit (Paper jam) • Safe Sense The indicator PC board that operates the LEDs is located on the inside of the housing cover. If an indicator LED fails, replace the control panel and indicator PC board assembly.
If used at or near capacity for an extended time the 325Ci shredder should be oiled every 30 minutes. If not it should be oiled after every bag change. Use Fellowes Powershred Lubricant (#35250) or other non-aerosol vegetable-based oil to lubricate the cutters.
Troubleshooting Troubleshooting the shredder begins with checking the machine for possible faults. Possible causes for machine malfunctions include: • Paper feed problems • CD/DVD feed problems • Electrical problems • Mechanical problems Paper Feed Problems Paper can become jammed if the paper is misfed. Paper may also jam if the waste bin is full or if there is a build up of paper shreds along the underside of the cutting assembly.
Electrical Problems The most common electrical problems result from: 1. An opened cabinet door 2. Loose wires 3. A defective PC board 4. Safe Sense feature being engaged 5. Anti-Jam module detecting paper overload 6. Bin full detection system not operating correctly If the waste bin is not placed properly in the cabinet, the shredder will not operate.
The cutting system may have broken paper strippers This will require the whole cutting block to be replaced. Tools and Supplies The following tools and supplies are required to properly service Fellowes shredders, Models 325i and 325Ci. 1. Screwdrivers •...
Cabinet and Housing • The cabinet has a shelf that supports the mechanical and electrical components • The housing cover fits on the cabinet • The Control Panel with the power, forward, reverse, and AUTO buttons, the indicator LEDs, and the Sheet Capacity LEDs are located on the housing cover •...

Housing Cover To remove the housing from the cabinet: 1. Remove the 4 screws that hold the cover to the rear of the cabinet. 2. Open the door and remove the 4 screws that hold the cover to the front of the cabinet. Note: If possible position the shredder so that there is a work surface on the right side of the shredder to be used to support the housing cover.
Paper and CD/DVD Waste Bins • The paper waste bin fits in the cabinet • The bin full LED will light when the waste bin is full o The bin must be emptied and put back in the cabinet • The CD/DVD waste bin fits on the left, front rim of the waste bin o Two small holes in the edge of the CD/DVD bin fit over nodes on the front rim of the waste bin...
Motor • The motor shaft turns the gear drive • If the motor gears or gearbox cover are defective, they can be replaced separately • If the motor is defective, it must be replaced. Note: If the motor shaft is broken / defective the motor will have to be replaced To remove and/or replace the motor: 1.
Main Disconnect Switch The Main Disconnect Switch is located on the back of the cabinet next to the power cord receptacle. The switch is held in place by tabs that snap into an opening on the cabinet To replace the Main Disconnect Switch: 1.
325Ci Basket Full System An Ambient Light Sensor Module monitors the contents of the waste bin. • The motor will stop when the sensor determines that the waste bin is full, and the shredder will not operate until the waste bin is emptied •...
Anti-Jam Module • The Anti-Jam module senses the amount of paper you feed in at one time • If it detects too much paper being fed through at once it will not allow power to the motor • An LED indicating tree will advise on how much paper the module senses •...
Safe Sense Sensor • The Safe Sense Sensor disables the shredder when hands or any body parts touch the in- feed section of the shredder • The Safe Sense icon will steadily light on if sensor is engaged • If sensor is engaged for more than 4 seconds it will power the shredder down To disable / enable this feature: Press and hold the AUTO button on the Control Panel Switch for 4 seconds.
Main PC Board • The main PC board is located at the right, front of the cabinet shelf • The PCB slides onto a support that is attached to the cabinet shelf • The wires leading to capacitor are hard-wired to the PCB •...

Control / L.E.D PC Boards The Control Touch panel PC board and a small indicator PC board are attached to the housing cover. These PC boards are hard wired to each other and must be replaced at the same time. Note: After performing replacement check sheet capacity intake on shredder.
Current Limit / Jam Proof Calibration The Current Limit/ Jam Proof calibration is preset during manufacturing. After the Control / L.E.D. PC Board is replaced, this setting will need to be checked and adjusted. When adjusted properly, the shredder will not allow or shred more than the maximum recommended sheet capacity to be shredded.
