10. Troubleshooting Engine

A. Engine Fails to Start
Cause
1. Unsteady fuel flow
2. Air in the fuel pipe line
3. Fuel injection timing incorrect
4. Valve clearance incorrect
5. Insufficient compression in the cylinder
6. Pumping element (plunger and barrel) of the
injection pump or injector nozzle worn-out
B. Engine Does Not Develop Full Power
Cause
1. Insufficient compression in the cylinder
2. Fuel injection timing incorrect
3. Valve clearance incorrect
4. Air filter choked
5. Engine speed too low or too high
6. Opening pressure of the injector incorrect

• Drive Tyres air pressure:
• Tail Wheel– 2.0 Kgf/cm
Remedy
Check the fuel tank and the element of the fuel filter whether
there is any water or dirt. Clean the element in clean fuel if it is
chocked with dirt, or clean the fuel tank and fill it with clean fuel
of recommended grade if any water is found in the tank.
Release air and then tighten all fuel pipe connections.
Adjust according to the recommended procedure.

Check valve seat leakage & take necessary action.
Check Injector & FIP
Remedy
Proceed as item 6 under "Engine Fails to Start." If parts are
worn, in excess of the specified wear limit, then replacement
should be made.

Clean it in clean fuel or kerosene.
Adjust the speed —control lever knob to make the speed attain
its rated value.
Replace the pumping element (plunger and barrel) of the
injection pump, or injector nozzle, adjust the opening pressure
of the injector to 248 kg/cm
