The HoMedics UHE-CMTF91 may not be working and the buttons may not be responding due to the following possible causes:

1. Power Issue – The device may not be plugged in properly. Solution: Ensure the humidifier is connected to a working power outlet.
2. Power Supply Problem – There may be an issue with the circuit or fuse. Solution: Check the circuit breakers, fuses, or try a different outlet.
3. Low Water Level – The water level might be too low for the unit to function. Solution: Refill the water tank.
4. Dirty Transducer/Membrane – The ultrasonic transducer or membrane may require cleaning. Solution: Follow the cleaning instructions provided in the manual.
5. Incorrect Humidistat Setting – The humidistat may be set lower than the ambient humidity. Solution: Adjust the humidistat to a higher humidity level or set it to continuous mode.
6. Clogged Output Valve – The output valve may need cleaning. Solution: Follow the cleaning steps in the manual.

If the issue persists after checking these points, further troubleshooting may be needed.

If your HoMedics UHE-CMTF91 humidifier is not producing mist despite having water and lights on, consider these possible reasons:

1. Empty or Incorrectly Seated Water Tank – Ensure the tank is filled with water and properly placed on the base.
2. Mineral Buildup – If the unit has been used without cleaning, mineral deposits may block the ultrasonic transducer. Clean the unit according to the manual.
3. Demineralization Cartridge Issue – If using a demineralization cartridge, check if it needs replacement, as an old or clogged cartridge can affect mist production.
4. Wrong Mist Level Setting – Ensure the mist level is not set too low.
5. Room Humidity Levels – If the room is already humid, the unit may produce less mist.
6. Blocked Mist Outlet – Check for any obstructions in the mist outlet.
7. Internal Malfunction – If none of the above solutions work, the unit may need professional servicing.

Try troubleshooting these issues to restore mist production.
