The starter on a BMW F 800 R may not engage when pressing the start button due to the following possible causes:
1. Sidestand is extended and gear is engaged – Ensure the transmission is in neutral or fold in the sidestand. 2. Gear is engaged and clutch is not operated – Place the transmission in neutral or disengage the clutch. 3. No fuel in the tank – Refuel the motorcycle. 4. Battery is drained – Charge the connected battery. 5. Overheating protection for the starter motor has activated – Let the starter motor cool down for about 1 minute before trying again.
