Troubleshooting

When the "Could not complete installation correctly" or "Communication between the camera
and computer failed" message appears, check the items described below.
I have installed the software but the camera and
computer cannot communicate.
● Are you using the following type of computer?
➞ A Macintosh computer with a FireWire (IEEE1394) connector as a standard feature.
(* A Macintosh computer does not support FireWire connections that are not a standard
feature of the computer.)
● Are the camera and your computer connected correctly?
➞ Connect the camera to your computer correctly using the interface cable. (➞2-2)
● Is there sufficient charge left in the camera battery?
➞ Your computer does not supply power to the camera. Connect the DC Coupler Kit to the
camera or load a fully charged battery into the camera before connecting it to your
computer. (➞ "Installing and Removing the Battery" in the EOS-1Ds Instructions.)
● Do you have more than one interface cable connected?
If you connect more than one interface cable to the same computer, File Viewer Utility and
camera may not operate normally.
➞ Shut down File Viewer Utility and disconnect all the interface cables. Then reconnect just
the interface cable that connects the camera to your computer.
