16 CHARACTERISTICS OF INDIVIDUAL WELDING METHODS

16.1 A.C.HARD TIG

<Output waveform>
<Features>
1.
Output current forms pulse superposed waveform.
2.
High heat input generates convergent arc, therefore, this method is suitable for fillet welding
and butt welding of works having wide root gap.
3.
Set values on individual current adjustors and the output currents do not match.
Be sure to refer to the values on the ammeter.
4.
Output current may slightly vary according to the adjustment of
cleaning width. (See the figure below.)

16.2 A.C.SOFT TIG

<Output waveform>
<Features>
1.
Output current forms sine pulse waveform in both periods of electrode positive (EP)
and electrode negative (EN).
2.
Sine this method generates soft arc, it is suitable for butt welding of thin plates
and of works having wide gap, and also welding in the upward movement.
3.
Set values on individual current adjustors and the output currents do not match. Be
sure to refer to the current values on the ammeter.
