b. Operation of the antenna retractor unit is simply by switching the Up/Down toggle
switch which is mounted on the remote control unit, or in some cases, on the aircraft
instrument panel
c. The Up and Down Light-emitting Diodes (LED's) on the remote control unit indicate the
position of the antenna.
CAUTION: RETRACT THE ANTENNA BEFORE LANDING. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN
DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNA AND ARTU RENDERING IT UNSERVICEABLE.
a. Check the wire locking of bolts and clamp locking nuts at regular intervals. It is
suggested to include this check as part of the normal aircraft pre-flight procedures.
b. Check the skid clamps for cracks, bending and damage.
c. Check the cables and connectors for damage.
d. Clean the unit with a damp cloth. Do not oil the main spindle or bell crank since the
bearing bushes are made from Vesconite and do not need oiling. Oiling this unit will
only collect dust and induce abrasion.
e. The actuator rod/piston can be cleaned with a damp cloth lightly oiled.
a. No customer serviceable items or components are supplied for the antenna retractor
unit, looms or remote control
b. The retractor actuator can be replaced as a unit
