    SAFETY INFORMATION GENERAL WHEN using the equipment, a few safety precautions must be observed to avoid injuries and damage to the tool. READ the operating instructions carefully and comply with them at all times. KEEP this manual in a safe place, so that the information is readily available at all times. IF you give the equipment to another person, it is important for them to read the operating instructions prior to use.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS A chainsaw is a high-speed, fast cutting power tool and as a result special safety precautions must be taken to reduce the risk of personal injury.

Never start cutting until you have a clear work area, secure footing and a planned retreat path from the falling tree. Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands when the engine is running. Use a firm grip with thumb and fingers encircling the chainsaw handles.
  • Page 10 SAFETY INFORMATION Warning - Never cut small, flexible branches or brush with your chainsaw. Their size and flexibility can easily cause the saw to bounce toward you or bind up with enough force to cause a kickback. The best tools for this kind of work is a hand saw, pruning shears, an axe or other hand tools.

    INSTALLATION ASSEMBLY WARNING! Do not start the engine until the saw is fully assembled. WARNING! Wear protective gloves at all times when handling the saw chain. Push Forward Then pull back • Firmly push the chain brake lever forward then pull it back (towards the front handle) to make sure the chain brake is released.

  • Page 13 INSTALLATION NOTE: Make sure the chain brake is disengaged or you will not be able to refit the chain brake/clutch cover. • Adjust the saw chain tension screw so that if the chain is gently pulled down with the fingers at the centre of the bar the gap between the chain and the bar is 6 to 8mm.

    ADJUSTMENT WARNING! Saw chain stretches during use, particularly when it is new. It will occasionally be necessary to adjust and tighten. NOTE: New chain will require adjustment in less than 5 cuts. Re-adjust it as often as necessary. CAUTION! Before re-adjusting the chain tension, loosen the bar fastening nuts and then retighten them after the adjustment.
  • Page 15 ADJUSTMENT LUBRICATION OF CHAIN AND CHAIN BAR Whenever you refill the fuel tank with fuel you must also top up the level of chain oil in the chain oil tank. It is recommended to use chain bar oil. Adequate lubrication of the saw chain is essential at all times to minimise friction with the chain bar.

    OPERATION GETTING STARTED It is very important to always keep the cutters sharp for smooth and safe operation. BEFORE STARTING CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE CHAIN BRAKE • The chain brake should be activated by pushing it forward before starting NOTE: The brake lever should be able to snap into both positions.
  • Page 17 OPERATION • Place the saw on a firm and level surface. Hold the saw securely with your foot as illustrated. Pull the starter handle 3 to 5 times. Stop when the engine tries to fire. ie the engine will splutter. •...
  • Page 18 OPERATION NOTE: To stop the engine in an emergency, activate the chain brake and push the engine switch down to the OFF position OIL PUMP Your chainsaw is equipped with an automatic oiler system. The oiler automatically delivers the proper amount of oil to the bar and chain. As the engine speed increases, so does the oil flow to the bar.
  • Page 19 OPERATION CAUTION! During normal operation the chain brake, clutch cover, bar and chain are lubricated with chain bar oil. After use oil will drain for many weeks and pool on the surface underneath the chainsaw. Place the chainsaw on a protected surface to contain the draining lubricating oil when not being used.

Start making the upper notch cut (C) on the side of the tree facing the felling direction (E). Be sure you don t make the lower cut too deep into the trunk.

    MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE WARNING!: All maintenance work on the chainsaw apart from the work described in this manual shall only be carried out by authorised service personnel. WARNING!: Before performing any repair work, always turn off engine, Do not carry out maintenance when the engine is running or hot. CHAIN BRAKE OPERATIONAL TEST Test the chain brake periodically to ensure proper function.
  • Page 23 MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE pulling and twisting it simultaneously. Remove the spark plug using a spark plug wrench. Clean the spark plug with a copper wire brush or fit a new one. CARBURETTOR SETTING The carburettor has been factory set. If it requires adjusting, take the saw to your nearest authorised service centre.
  • Page 24 MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE BREAKING IN A NEW SAW CHAIN A new chain will need to be readjusted after as few as 5 cuts. This is normal during the break- in period, future adjustments will be required less often. OIL PASSAGES Oil passages on the bar should be cleaned to ensure proper lubrication of the bar and chain during operation.
