Check the Volume Check whether the status of speaker is on "mute" a. Click the "volume" icon at the right bottom corner of the desktop toolbar b. Check if its set to "mute". c. Test the volume by raising the volume slider.

Set default device Check the playback device If you're connecting to an audio device using USB or HDMI, you might need to set that device as the default. Open Start , type Sound, select it from the list of results. On the Playback tab, select a device, then Set Default.

Check if there is any external device connected to the headphone jack as the system will apply the default settings to the external device, instead of the built-in speaker.
