The automation system inside the Solo Logic revolves around. a very sophisticated, high speed computer and will record the movement of the channel faders and record the pressing of ON/OFF buttons on the channels, monitors, effects returns, groups and auxiliary masters.

    4 Introduction Vocal pre-mixes - as with musicians, the vocalist is also encouraged to sing more than is necessary, often recording 10 or 15 tracks of the same lead vocal. The producer then uses the automation system to piece together the best bits into one vocal take.

    MTC and the sequencer to receive it so you must make sure that the sequencer is set up to receive MTC. The Solo Logic is already set up to generate MTC and send it out from "MIDI OUT 1 so there is no need to adjust any- thing on the Sol9 Logic.

    Tutorial 15 Now turn on aux output 1 and send some signal from one of the channels to the reverb unit. Press play on the control panel and turn the reverb send on and offby pressing the ON/OFF button on aux output number one. At the end of the mix press stop and keep the mix.

    Tutorial 17 Screen display Because of the complexity of automation is ideal there is a screen to display the fader levels. The logic automa- tion sends out continuous controllers for each of the faders and on buttons on the console. This means a conventional sequencer which has some form of graphical :MIDI mixer will be able to display the fader levels and mutes.

    To replay the mix first rewind the automation to the begining. Press the stop button twice to You can rewind to zero very quickly by pressing the stop return to zero button twice. When the automation has located the null point the GREEN LED will light and the flashing stops. The speed at which the automation locates the null point can be set up in the nulling menu.

    Null The null option allows you to select the nulling mode (i.e. manual or automatic), select the automatic nulling time, 'match' a mix and view a fader. (Nulling is explained in the tutorial and the nulling modes are explained in the 'Mix modes' secxtion) Null modes are: OFF, A UTO or MANUAL.

    Clear Clear is used to delete the mix in memory. Once the mix has been cleared there is no way of retrieving so ensure you have saved your mix first. Grouping and set up data is not deleted when the memory has been cleared. Clear memory as follows' 1.
