2 – PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Installation Overview Wayne D-Box (PA0338X000) The PA0338X000 D-Box provides an interface between the Gilbarco Passport system and Wayne CATs and dispensers. The loop to Wayne dispensers is currently set to 34 mA, JP10 installed. One D-Box supports eight Wayne pump loops (eight dual-sided dispensers for a total of 16 fueling positions) and 16 Wayne CAT (CRIND) pairs.
Page 22
PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Installation Overview Boards (T20488 and T19547) The D-Box houses one transformer and a removable tray with two Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) (T19547-G1 and T20488-G2). Each PCB contains an on-board power supply, an optically-coupled current loop interface, and an automatic isolation circuitry between output loops.
Page 23
Installation Overview PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Distribution Board (T19547) - Settings for CPC Figure 2-3: Distribution Board (T19547) IMPORTANT INFORMATION You can connect only one dispenser to any one data loop channel. The wiring length between the D-Box and dispensers must not exceed 800 feet, and requires stranded 14 AWG wires.
Installation Overview Tokheim D-Box (PA0338X001) The PA0338X001 D-Box provides an interface between the Gilbarco Passport system, Tokheim DPT/Tokheim Encryption Device (TED), and dispensers. Unlike the Wayne D-Box, the Tokheim D-Box presumes that the Tokheim dispensers are already installed. It is designed to connect to the Tokheim Model 69 Box (or the TED box if it is installed) for the DPTs, and the Model 67 Box for the dispensers.
Page 25
Installation Overview PA0338X00X D-Box Installation D-Box Board (T20488-G2) The T20488-G2 Board provides four 4-channel (totally 16 channels) MTA connectors for field wiring. The four MTA connectors on this board are capable of driving 16 Tokheim RS-485 DPTs. When a Tokheim site is using a TED, the T20488-G2 is field wired directly to the TED. The TED then communicates to the DPTs.
Page 26
PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Installation Overview To connect both the TED and the Model 69 Interface box, proceed as follows: Run a pair of field wires from the D-Box to the TED or Interface box. Connect one wire from the D-Box to pin 1 of the TED or Interface box. Connect another wire from the D-Box to pin 2 of the TED or Interface box.
Page 27
Installation Overview PA0338X00X D-Box Installation If the Model 67B Interface Box is configured for RS-422, proceed as follows to configure it for the Passport system: Turn off power to the 67B Box, using the switch on the top. Disconnect J6 and J8 (the two left-most connectors) on the motherboard (Figure 2-6).
Report any damage to the carrier. Shipping damage is not covered under Gilbarco’s warranty policy. After visual inspection, place the unit back in the shipping carton and store it indoors until it is ready for installation.
Installing the PA0338X00X D-Box PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Basic Site Criteria D-Box installation must be in accordance with NEC NFPA 70, Automotive and Marine Service Station Code NFPA 30A, and state/local electrical requirements. For Canadian installations, use Canadian Electrical Code CSA 22.1. The site must be equipped with electric service allowing compliance with all installation requirements of a complete fueling system and with MDE-3620 POS Site Preparation Manual.
PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Installing the PA0338X00X D-Box Preparing the D-Box To prepare the D-Box, proceed as follows: Loosen the two screws under the bottom front area of the D-Box and then lift the lid. Carefully remove and discard any packing material from the D-Box. Disconnect the cable from the distribution board(s) at P101 (refer to “Configuring the D-Box Jumper Settings”...
Installing the PA0338X00X D-Box PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Verify if all positions on JP1–JP8 are installed correctly on the T20488-G2 Board and are connected to CATs. Note: Do not install jump jacks in positions that are not connected to CATs. When installing Tokheim dispensers, connect the cable coming from the Tokheim 67 Box to the barrel connector on the right hand side of the D-Box.

PA0338X00X D-Box Installation Installing the PA0338X00X D-Box Connecting TRAC Controller Field Wiring The Wayne TRAC Controller has a pair of data wires (positive and negative) used for RS-485 communication. These wires must be connected to a dedicated channel on P106, P107, P108, or P109 of the T20488-G2 Distribution Board.

Is the Distribution Box on the same electrical phase as the POS? This is a Gilbarco installation requirement. If the distribution box is installed on a separate electrical phase, then the communication from the POS to forecourt may be affected by electrical noise.
Page 52
Is voltage provided to the Distribution Box by an isolated ground receptacle? The distribution box must be powered by an isolated ground receptacle as per Gilbarco installation requirements (these receptacles may be identified by their bright orange color and triangular marking on the facing). This receptacle must be within 6 feet of the distribution box.
Page 53
Daisy-chaining will compromise communication from the POS to the forecourt. Wiring found to be daisy chained will require reinstallation as per Gilbarco installation requirements. Is the T19547 Distribution Board jumpered for 34 mA? The T19547 two-wire distribution box Board must be jumpered for 34 mA communication (JP10 installed) when interfaced with Wayne dispensers.
Page 54
Troubleshooting Steps Communication Issues - Checklist What voltage is present on TP2 of the T19547 Distribution Board? This must be between 4.75 and 5.25 VDC (regulated). If this voltage is not present (or out of specifications), then the T19547 Distribution Board (or transformer) will have to be replaced. What voltage is present when referencing TP3 on the T19547 Distribution Board to Chassis? Note: Test with field wiring at P106 and P107 disconnected.

Communication Issues - Checklist Troubleshooting Steps What voltage is present when referencing TP3 on the T20488 Distribution Board to Chassis? Note: Test with field wiring at P106 and P107 disconnected. This must read 0 VDC. If this voltage is not present (or out of specifications), then the T20488 Distribution Board, T19547 Distribution Board, R19262-G2 expansion cable or transformer may have to be replaced.
Box? Although two-wire can be run over a maximum of 1000 feet, RS-485 communication has a maximum range of 800 feet. Since Wayne CATs use RS-485 communication to the Gilbarco CPC distribution box, installations over 800 feet may compromise communication.

Wayne dispensers blend the products based on the percentage of high product rather than the percentage of low product. This differs from the way Gilbarco dispensers handle blending and blend ratios. The Passport CPC feature automatically accounts for this difference. Blend ratio programming must be programmed at the Manager Workstation based on the percentage of low product.
