Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Preparation
1.
Verify the replacement ribbons are the
correct size and sufficient quantity for
completing the procedure. Refer to the
PARTS LIST.
2.
Shut down the folder, and turn power OFF
at the main disconnect switch.
3.
Locate the specific adjustment bolts for the
ribbons to be replaced in the appropriate
section.
4.
Loosen the locknuts and carefully turn
each bolt counterclockwise an equal
amount until the ribbon set is easily moved
by hand.
Replacing Worn Ribbons
Use this procedure to replace ribbons that are
still in place, but are worn out.
1.
Pull the ribbons around their tracks until
all the lacing clips are easily accessible.
2.
Remove the connecting pin from an old
ribbon and attach a new ribbon to one
end.
Never turn on power while
pulling the ribbons through.

Pull the old ribbon through until the new
ribbon is in its place.
4.
Disconnect the old ribbon and connect the
ends of the new ribbon with a new pin.
5.
Repeat Steps 2 to 4 to replace additional
worn ribbons. Stagger the positions of
the lacing clips to give flatwork a smooth
flow.
6.
Adjust ribbon tension following the ap-
propriate Ribbon Tension Adjustment
procedure earlier in this section.
Replacing Broken or Missing Ribbons
Use this procedure to replace ribbons that are
missing from the machine.
1.
Remove a ribbon from each end of the
unit and use one or both as replacement
ribbons. The end ribbons can then be re-
placed by a pair of new ribbons.
2.
Note the path of adjacent ribbons and fol-
low this path with the new ribbon(s). Refer
to Figure 7-1.

connect them with a new pin.
