Setting Chain Tension
Rem em ber to wear protective gloves.
1. Check that the chainsaw is
disconnected trom the mains
2 Put the chainsaw upside-down on a
flat surface
3 Make sure the clamp nut is only
finger tight
4 Pull the tension lever this way to
increase tension
5 Tighten the clamp nut
Do not overtension the
chain as this will reduce
the life of the chain and
guide bar.
When running in a new saw chain -
1 Run the saw for a couple of minutes
while continually oiling the chain
2 Switch off and unplug from the
mains supply
3. Re adjust and re-oil the chain
4 Re-check the chain tension
repeatedly during the first few hours
use, as the chain will stretch during
this period If you have to adjust
3. Fit the clamp bar and raised stud
into the slot in the guide bar
4 Check that the chain is still seated
on the sprocket wheel
Check that you can -
,
•
pull the chain smoothly around
the guide bar;
•
pull the chain about 3mm away
from the guide bar using finger
and thumb.
If the tension is not right, re-adjust it
your chain frequently after this initial
stretching period, your saw is
probably being overloaded while
cutting. Try cutting with less force -
it will cut just as quickly
