ENGINE OIL

The proper amount and grade of
engine oil will have a great impact
on the life of the engine. Checking
the oil daily and changing the oil as
listed in the maintenance schedule
is the most important maintenance
procedure there is for the engine.

CHECKING

ENGINE OIL (
1. Make sure the scooter is on level
ground
2. Check engine oil level by remov-
ing and looking at the oil plug/
dipstick (1). Oil should be close to
the top of the serrated portion of the
dipstick.
3. If engine oil is low, add oil until
oil is at the top of the serrated
portion of the dipstick. Use the
correct grade of oil as listed in this
manual. Do not over or under fill
engine with oil, this could damage
the engine.
CHANGING THE
ENGINE OIL
1. Make sure engine is warm before
attempting to drain the oil. A warm
engine will help the oil drain quicker.
2. Remove the oil fill plug (1) (Fig
17)
3. Remove the drain bolt (2) (Fig 18)
located on the bottom left side of
the engine.
4. Allow the oil to drain in an appro-
priate container. Note: Dispose of
oil at an oil reclaim facility.
5. Install the drain plug and fill with
the appropriate type of oil as listed in
this manual. This Scooter requires
.85qt. (.8L) of engine oil.

Possible causes of no power to the brake light and ignition on a Coleman Powersports JL50QT-14 include:

1. ON/OFF switch is in the “OFF” position.
2. Ignition key switch is in the “OFF” or “SHUT” position.
3. Electrical system problem.
4. Low battery or disconnected wiring.

If basic checks do not resolve the issue, the vehicle should be taken to a service center for diagnostics and repair.
