    This product can be implemented to a low profile PCI slot, by replacing a bracket. Do not connect this product to a server or SAS/SATA device that is not recommended by NEC Corporation. If the product is connected to a server or SAS/SATA device that is not recommended by NEC Corporation, the product may malfunction or fail.

    1.4. Names and Functions (1) Internal Connector (Port 0) Connector used to connect this product to a SAS/SATA device. (2) Internal Connector (Port 1) Connector used to connect this product to a SAS/SATA device (3) Bracket Bracket to fix this product to the extended slot of the server. When fixing this product to a PCI slot optimized for the low profile type, replace the bracket with the low profile one.

    2. Setup Follow the steps described below to set up this product. Do not handle this product during an electrical storm. When installing this product in the server, read the user's guide of the server and unplug the power plug from the electrical outlet. Do not insert or remove the power plug with wet hands. Doing so can lead to faults or electric shock.

    2.1. Installation of a Bracket A full height PCI bracket is attached to this product at factory shipment. If you insert this product in a low profile PCI slot, you have to replace the bracket with a low profile one that comes with this product.

    2.2. Installation to the server Do not connect this product to a server or SAS/SATA device that is not recommended by NEC Corporation. If the product is connected to a server or SAS/SATA device that is not recommended by NEC Corporation, the product may malfunction or fail.
  • Page 41 Insert SAS/SATA cables to this product’s connectors to connect firmly to this product. Read the user's guide of the server and the SAS/SATA device for confirmation. Insert the appropriate connector on the other end of SAS/SATA cable to attach to the backplane or SAS/SATA device.

    2.3. Installation of the Driver SAS driver for Windows will be automatically installed.

    3. SAS3 MPT Controller Configuration Application “SAS3 MPT Controller Configuration Application” (hereafter referred to as "this utility") is an utility with which various settings can be adjusted, properties of this product and physical devices can be viewed and even simple operations such as locate function can be operated. It does not need specific media to starts up.

    3.2.2. Change Controller Properties Select “Legacy BIOS” and press <ENTER> to Enable or Disable this feature. Select “Apply Changes” and press <ENTER> to commit changes. This product don’t support on Legacy BIOS mode, so do not change this setting.

    3.2.3. Advanced Controller Properties It allows the logical grouping of the controller PHYs into one or more ports. A reset is required for the controller to use the new settings. Incorrect settings can result in a non-operational controller. Report Device Missing Delay Timer Delay (in seconds) this product will wait before reporting a target device as missing after it becomes unavailable.

Select “Apply Changes” and press <ENTER> to commit changes. There is potential risk of data loss to enable disk write cache, please make sure you understand the consequence of enabling this feature before you commit the setting.

Without connect this product to tape device, the item "Tape Device Management" is not displayed. Press <Enter> and a popup menu will appear. Select a tape device to view its properties. Tape device display format is <Connector: Enclosure: Slot>.

    4. Maintenance 4.1. Notice The following SAS controller message is displayed in POST. Adapter configuration may have changed, Reconfiguration is suggested! When two or more sets of this product are installed on the server, the message above may be displayed in the POST, but there is no operational problem. ID indication of HDD or SSD connected to this product is not correct.
