Signaling Introduction

CTCSS/CDCSS and DTMF signalings are available with TC-580. For detailed information, please contact
your dealer.

CTCSS/CDCSS

CDCSS/CTCSS can be used to prevent unwanted conversations at the same frequency. If
CTCSS/CDCSS is set on a certain channel, you can only receive voice calls from radios with matching
CTCSS/CDCSS. Otherwise you will receive voice calls from all users operating at the same frequency.
You may request your dealer to program corresponding parameters; alternately, you can program them
manually through your radio by yourself. For more information, please refer to the section "RX CTC/CDC"
and "TX CTC/CDC" in Manual Program on page 29.

Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF)

Methods to transmit DTMF signaling:
1.
Enter the menu Call List, select your desired contact entry, and press PTT to transmit; or
2.
Press the programmed Call1-Call5 key to transmit; or
Note: To enable this feature, DTMF signaling must be enabled on current channel via
programming software by your dealer.
3.
Enter the DTMF code on the home screen, and then press PTT to transmit.
Note: The DTMF code is comprised of 0-9, A-D, * and #.
During transmission, the LED glows red solidly; after transmission, it solidly glows orange within the
auto reset time (programmed by your dealer).
Decoding DTMF signaling:
When a channel is programmed to receive DTMF signaling, the radio will decode matching DTMF
signaling only.
When the radio is receiving DTMF signaling, the LED glows green solidly; after it successfully
receives the signaling, the LED keeps flashing orange for a predefined time period.
When an Emergency alarm is received
The radio will sound a fixed Emergency alert tone when it receives an Emergency Alarm (an
Emergency ID should be programmed at first).
