14.2. Adjusting the valve clearance
WARNING: The adjustment must be made
with the engine is cold.
1 - Remove the cover and demount the spark plug

2 - Remove lid (5) which is secured with three screws
(6) and remove the washer (7).
3 - Manually set the piston to the TDC (Top Dead
Centre) of the compression stroke so that both
valves are closed.
4 - Use a feeler gauge (8) to check the gap betwe-
en the rocker arm and the tip of the valve stem; the
gauge should pass between without forcing and
without a further gap.
5 - Slack is adjusted by loosening the dowel (9) and
suitably adjusting the register nut (10) to obtain the
following values:
Inlet - IN = 0,15 - 0,20 mm
Exhaust - EX = 0,15 - 0,20 mm
6 - Following adjustment, check that the pushrods
(11) are properly inserted in the rocker arm housings
(12) and always fully tighten the dowel (9).

When reassembling check the condition
of the gasket (7) of the cover (5) and replace it if
it is damaged. Tighten the screws (6) to the torque
indicated.
8 - Assemble the spark plug
