To replace the batteries, remove the back by undoing the 4 screws. There is no off switch on the unit; it will automatically power off after 5 minutes of inactivity. This ‘Bowmonk Connected’ version of the Tapley EBM is capable of testing both the Service Brake and the Hand Brake.

Function Key Hold the key down for 2 to 3 seconds to turn the Tapley EBM ON When the Tapley EBM is turned ON, the Brake Test display will show: The Unit is ready to begin the Service Brake Test routine.

NB. The Tapley EBM should be placed on the vehicle seat or front floor and as close as possible to parallel with the road surface. The unit is fitted with rubber feet to help prevent it from moving around during the test.

To select a different type of test, press and hold for about a second, then choose the test type as above, switching between the two with brief presses of the button. To begin the selected test type, briefly press . The display will indicate whether or not the unit is level enough to perform the test.

The result will be retained until the next Service Brake or Hand Brake test is performed. The test is now complete, move the vehicle off the roadway if necessary.

CALIBRATION: BOWMONK recommends that the unit be calibrated every 24 months to ensure accurate operation. Calibration is to be done by Bowmonk Ltd at our approved laboratory in Norwich. Uncalibrated devices will not transfer test results to MTS.
