    getting started Charging the Battery Pack The camcorder can be powered with a battery pack or directly using the compact power adapter. When you use the compact power adapter, the power of the battery pack will not be consumed. Charge the battery pack before use.

    getting ready to start recording Using a Memory Card Use commercially available SDHC (SD high capacity) memory cards SD memory cards to record movies and photos. While you can record photos on almost all types of memory cards, depending on the type and Speed Class of the memory card used, you may not be able to record movies on the memory card.

  • Page 31 basic recording Using the Zoom By default, the camcorder uses the 37x Optical Zoom when recording photos and Advanced Zoom to record movies. With Advanced Zoom, the camcorder processes the image digitally to obtain a zoom range beyond that of the Optical Zoom but without any deterioration in image quality. The maximum zoom range of the Advanced Zoom depends on the camcorder and its settings.
  • Page 32 Using the Zoom NOTES • About the zoom speed: When you use the zoom buttons on the LCD panel or on the wireless controller ( only), the zoom speed will be constant. The zoom lever, on the other hand, is set by default to a variable speed.

In standby mode the camcorder consumes only about half the power used when recording, saving energy when you are using a battery pack.
