Danger potential to individuals All DF8000 modules are powered with low voltage DC, and there are no specific safety regulations that apply to these devices. If DF8000 is installed in cabinets with AC power supply, the required power cable should be installed following scrupulously the instructions given in the correspond- ing manual.
  • Page 9: Disposal And Recycling

The DF8000 units have been manufactured as much as possible from materials that can be recycled or disposed of in a manner that is not environmentally damag- ing. However, they contain parts that require disposal in a controlled waste stream according to local environmental standards and/or regulations.
  • Page 10: Introduction

The DF8000 system DF8000 Modules and Units The DF8000 is based on a modular design philosophy. Separate 4 or 8-point mod- ules, with DIN rail-mountings, galvanically or optically isolated from the field can be assembled in local units that provide both the capabilities and the functionality re- quired to map from 4 to 48 I/O points (one or two 24-signal units addressed by the CMX-DL protocol).
  • Page 11 I/O MOD- Fig. 2 DF8000 double unit The DF8000 can thus be defined as a flexible system, organised in units compris- ing the modules listed below: • 1 CPU module ; • 1 to 3 I/O modules (single CMX-DL protocol unit) -- OR -- 4 to 6 I/O modules (double CMX-DL protocol unit).
  • Page 12 Backward compatibility with CF9000 modules and NK8000 firmware DF8000 family fully replaces the CF9000 devices. New DF8000 modules can be used to replace the corresponding CF9000 modules as illustrated in Tab.1 below. Note also the compatibility across Composer configurations (and related protocol), DF8003/CF9003 hardware, and NK8000 firmware versions (Tab.2).

By pulling downward the orange-coloured tab located at the rear bottom of the module, the module itself can be detached.

↑ Not valid for double units Tab.7. DF8000 unit address settings Note that the DF8003 units that include 4 to 6 I/O modules, i.e. the double units, always allocate two consecutive addresses on the RS485 line: the address se- lected on S1-5 to S1-8 and the subsequent one. This applies both to even and odd addresses.
  • Page 21: Power Supply

Power supply A local DC power supply (11... 33 VDC) is required for each unit. Internal and the external circuits should receive separate input voltages and the CPU module has two separate power supply inputs, as illustrated in Fig. 9. The first supplies the CPU and the internal I/O circuits (terminals 2-3), whereas the second one is used to supply the external I/O circuits (terminals 4-5).
