DESCRIPTION:
SP-500 is an electronically activated trap priming device. Primer functions in conjunction with EMS, delivering potable
water across an air gap funnel.
CAUTION: SP-500 should not be defined as pressure feed trap priming system. Device must be installed a minimum
of 12" above flood level of device being served. Trap primer should be mounted one foot above the finished floor for
every 20 feet of trap priming line, measured from bottom of air gap.
OPERATION:
EMS activated solenoid valve discharging potable water to P-trap
INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO A RISK OF FIRE ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS
WARNING - When using electric appliances, basic precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
a) Read all of the instructions before using the appliance.
b) Do not contact moving parts.
c) Only use attachments recommended or sold by the manufacturer
d) Do not use outdoors.
To disconnect turn all controls to the off position, then remove from connection.
Disconnect power before servicing or cleaning.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord, or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or
damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility. For examination, repair,
or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
e) For a permanently connected appliance - Turn the power switch to the off position when the appliance is not in
use and before servicing or cleaning.
f) For a grounded appliance - Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See grounding instructions.
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be connected to a grounded metal, permanent wiring system; or an equipment-grounding
conductor must be run with the circuit conductors and connected to the equipment-grounding terminal or lead on the
appliance.
INSTALLATION:
1) Primer's minimum elevation above floor rim of drain served shall be one foot. Device must be installed a
minimum of 12" above flood level of device being served. Trap primer should be mounted one foot above the
finished floor for every 20 feet of trap priming line, measured from bottom of air gap.
2) Solo-prime must be installed in an accessible location. For access door applications use 8" x 14" model D814
prime coat or stainless steel.
3) Connect ½" male NPT fitting (primer supply) to fresh water line, using Teflon tape. Connect priming discharge
line (minimum ½") to inlet side of floor drain being served (not supplied). Ensure discharge line is properly
sloped downward to the discharge point.
4) Connect primer drain line, distribution unit or PM manifold to system, ensure assembly is plumb and square.
5) Wire primer to Energy Management System, follow N.E.C. and local codes.
