Your Lazer Tripwire uses light–sensing technology to see the invisible
beams. It works best in dim to dark places––which is where top-secret
security systems are needed most!
SAFETY NOTE
LAZER TRIPWIRE operates with harmless infrared light beams.
It is not a true laser product.
HOW IT WORKS
Lazer Tripwire projects an invisible "line" between each of the Lazer units. (Fig. 1)
If anyone breaks the line, the alarm sounds––they've been caught!
Use Lazer Tripwire to protect your room against intruders, guard a favorite object, or
taunt sneaky brothers and sisters.
SETTING UP LAZER TRIPWIRE
1. Adults: Install batteries in each LAZER UNIT (see below).
2. Open the SPRING CLAMP and attach unit to a shelf, table or similar surface (Fig. 2).
3. Place the units so they can "see" each other––they must be lined up so the beams
form a perimeter.
4. Press the POWER BUTTON on each unit.
5. Set the SENSITIVITY SWITCH to (
Set it to (
) for a darker area. (You may need to set each tripwire unit to a
different sensitivity, depending on light conditions.)
6. Align each SENDER with a RECEPTOR––they rotate and swivel for flexibility (Fig. 1).
When the beam hits the receptor, the red LED will signal a connection. Once the
system is aligned, the LED will blink steadily to indicate the beam is set.
TIP: If you are having difficulty targeting a sensor, use a piece of white paper to
trace the location of the Lazer dot.
7. Align the final beam that goes into the master unit (LTW-001). When all three
beams are aligned, the trap is set! A voice will announce "System Armed".
(Only LTW-001 has sound effects.)
8. To detect the invisible perimeter and avoid tripping your own alarm, add water
to the Spray Mister and spray the hidden beams. (For best visibility, spray the
mist at a 45 degree angle to the beam).
9. When the perimeter is breached, an alarm siren will sound. Press the POWER
BUTTON on the master unit to cancel alarm. Press again to re-arm the Tripwire.
10. When performance fades it is time to change the batteries (see below.)
FINE TUNING
Plotting the ideal Lazer Tripwire system is half the fun—it takes a real mastermind to
catch another spy! Try these hints to create the ultimate invisible barrier.
If your Tripwire appears to malfunction:
• Lazer Tripwire is triggered by reflected light. For best performance, the sender beam
should be the brightest thing each receptor "sees." If needed, adjust the focus of
the Laser beam by rotating the adjustable FOCUS RING at the end of the Sender.
• Check that receptors are not pointed toward a window or other bright light source.
• Point Tripwire away from bright white walls.
• If Tripwire arms itself without the beams in place, the environment may be too bright.
Try adjusting the (
) and (
turning off lights.
• Double-check that each sender is lined up with a receptor, not another sender.
• Tripwire units work best when placed within 6 feet (1.8m) of each other.
• Be creative about where you place the Lazer units: aim low on the floor or from high
up on a bookcase.
TIP: Your perimeter can be expanded with additional Lazer Tripwire sets.
An infinite number of extra Lazer units can be used!
