Removal and Replacement

Introduction
This section describes the steps you must take to remove and replace assemblies and components in the
HP 82718A Expansion Pod. Disassembly procedures are described in paragraph 4-3. Reassembly proce
dures are described in paragraph 4-7.

The tools you will need to disassemble and reassemble the pod are listed in table 4-1.

Disassembly Procedure
The following procedure describes the steps you should take to disassemble the pod.
CAUTION
Always remove the batteries before disassembling the pod. Otherwise, damage to components may
result.
Make sure your work station is protected against ESD (electrostatic discharge) with a static mat and
a static fan and that you are wearing a grounded wrist strap before opening the pod. CMOS compo
nents on the main PGA are subject to ESD damage.
The overlays on the top- and bottom cases are cosmetically sensitive parts. Handle them with care
in order to prevent damage to them.
