Use this procedure to replace faulty sensors.
Read and understand all instructions
(including those for the heat gun and solder
sleeve) before performing this procedure.
If you have any questions, contact your

supportteam@egi.com.
Use this procedure on not more than 20% of the
sensors in a Net (i.e., 6 of 32, 12 of 64, 25 of 128,
or 51 of 256). Contact EGI regarding any Net that
requires additional repair.
To ensure that you do not damage your Net, use this procedure only:
on Nets containing standard, nonshielded, CANSL-compatible sensors;
on one sensor at a time;
in a designated heat-safe work area; and
in a well-ventilated area.
Step 1 – Replace the Sensor in the Net
Before starting, recognize the parts of a sensor:

Instead, contact EGI for repair of the pin. 8 For sponged Nets: before remove the sponge removing its pedestal foot.

Secure the replacement sensor in the bands by, first, replacing the pedestal foot from step 1-4, and second, for sponged Nets, inserting a new sponge.

  • Page 5 User Instructions for Replacing Sensors 8406306-53 Slip a solder sleeve at least 1 inch up the wire of the replacement sensor before stripping the end of the wire. Step 3 – Strip the Wire Ends Using the 26/28 hole of the wire strippers, do the following: Remove 12.5 mm to 15 mm (0.5 in.
  • Page 6 User Instructions for Replacing Sensors 8406306-53 Step 4 – Splice the Wire Ends Together Twist the wire strands as follows: a) Align the strands of stripped wires (from the sensor and from the sleeve) such that all strands are parallel. b) Carefully twist the strands together.
  • Page 7 User Instructions for Replacing Sensors 8406306-53 Properly place the wires to be soldered in the wire holding jig as follows: a) Place the heat resistant pad over the Net’s wires. b) Place the wire holding jig on the pad and ensure that it is stable.
  • Page 8 User Instructions for Replacing Sensors 8406306-53 Solder as follows: a) Attach the nozzle to the provided heat gun. b) Set the heat gun to HOT. c) Hold the heat gun steady about 1 inch away from the solder sleeve. DO NOT wave the heat gun back and forth.
  • Page 9 User Instructions for Replacing Sensors 8406306-53 Safely set the heat gun down away from the Net and anything that could be damaged, then let the heated solder sleeve, heating tools, and wire splicing fixture cool. After the solder sleeve has cooled, carefully tuck the soldered sensor wire back into the split wire sleeve.
