Questions and answers
How to refill the brake fluid after brake line leak?
To refill the brake fluid on a 2020 RAM 1500 after a brake line leak:
1. Check the Fluid Level: Locate the brake master cylinder reservoir and check if the fluid level is below the designated marks.
2. Clean the Reservoir Area: Before opening the reservoir, clean the top area to prevent contamination.
3. Use the Correct Brake Fluid: The proper type of brake fluid is identified on the original factory cap. Do not use the wrong type, as it can damage the brake system.
4. Avoid Contamination: Use only new brake fluid and ensure it does not come into contact with petroleum-based fluids, as this can damage brake seals.
5. Refill the Fluid: Slowly add brake fluid to bring the level within the designated marks on the reservoir.
6. Check for Leaks: Inspect the brake system for any remaining leaks and repair them before operating the vehicle.
7. Bleed the Brakes: If air entered the system due to the leak, bleed the brakes to remove air and restore proper braking performance.
8. Test the Brakes: Press the brake pedal to ensure it feels firm before driving.
Failure to follow these steps correctly could impair braking performance and lead to a collision.
