Getting Started Procedure 5: Perform Cable Connections The serial port on the Spirent chassis is RS-232 DCE and has default Important: • settings of 9600 baud with 8 data bits, 1 start bit, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no flow control. The PC used for the serial port connection should be configured with these same settings.

This enables quick and easy connection and start up of your chassis, without the need to use the serial connection.

Use standard network troubleshooting techniques to verify that the network can see the chassis. Ping the Ethernet link between the PC and the chassis, and ping the chassis’ IP address.
