To select blue stitches and stretch stitches on the Singer Heavy Duty 4423, turn the pattern selector dial to the desired pattern indicated in blue. The blue color on the dial represents stretch stitch patterns. The dial can be turned in either direction to choose the appropriate stitch.

in the lower bobbin area, the top thread is getting stuck and won't pull the bobbin thread through

The top thread of the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 may be getting stuck in the lower bobbin area due to the following reasons:

1. Thread Caught in Hook – The thread may be tangled in the hook mechanism. Remove the upper thread and bobbin case, then gently rock the handwheel back and forth to clear any trapped thread.

2. Incorrect Threading – If the upper thread is not threaded correctly, it can cause jamming. Re-thread the machine carefully, following the correct threading path.

3. Damaged Needle – A bent or damaged needle can prevent proper stitching. Replace the needle with a new one.

4. Bobbin Case Issues – If the bobbin case is incorrectly inserted or damaged, it can cause thread tangling. Check and reposition the bobbin case properly.

These steps should help resolve the issue and ensure smooth stitching.
