Controller parameters (Xp, Tn, Tv):

The controller parameters Xp, Tn and Tv define the transient response characteristic of
the controller, i.e. how intensely and how quickly the controller responds to a torque
change.
Proportional range (Xp):
The proportional range Xp (P portion) is a reciprocal of the controller gain.
This parameter defines how intensely the controller responds to a torque change.
A high Xp value causes a weak response by the controller.
According to our experience, an Xp value of 20% ensures a stable operation of the
automatic control, therefore optimisation can be started with this setting.

Reset time (Tn):

The reset time Tn (I portion) defines how quickly the controller responds to a torque
change.
A high Tn value causes a slow response by the controller.
According to our experience, a Tn value of 80 s ensures a stable operation of the
automatic control, therefore optimisation can be started with this setting.

Derivative time (Tv):

Via derivative time Tv (D portion), it is possible to set a very quick response by the
controller.
According to our experience, the torque changes relatively slowly which means that
a long derivative time is not necessary, therefore always set the Tv value to 1s.

Optimisation of the controller parameters:

Problem:
Controller oscillates, i.e.
the torque oscillates
regularly
Torque changes are not
sufficiently controlled
Note:
When changing the parameters (Xp) or (Tn), first double or halve the value until a
clear reaction can be noticed.
Then optimise setting in small steps.
Cause:
Controller intervenes
too much
Controller intervenes
too little
Remedy:
1st step: increase Xp if
required
2nd step: increase Tn
1st step: reduce Xp if
required
2nd step: reduce Tn
