High Speed Cable Modem Install and activate your Cable Modem The cable modem provides a connection between your cable Internet provider’s network and your computer, router, or WiFi router. Connect your cable modem to a computer During installation, connect a computer to an Ethernet port on the cable modem. After you install the cable modem and activate your Internet service, you can disconnect the computer and connect a router to the cable modem. -

High Speed Cable Modem Activate your Internet service with XFINITY Set up Internet service by using XFINITY’s self-activation process. If you are unable to self-activate your cable modem, call XFINITY customer service. After you complete the setup, perform a speed test. Before you start the self-activation process, make sure to collect your account number, account phone number, and login information (your email address or user name and password). -
